THEME 2021 – REMAIN IN CHRIST

2020 is coming to an end. It was a year full of challenges for the world because of COVID-19, a few elections happened locally and abroad. When faced with challenges, people react. Yet time goes on without hesitation or sympathy for the events. We are now on the last day of 2020.

Everyone wanted a better year than in 2020. For some, the hope of a good government will lead their nation into 2021. For others, the vaccines for the COVID-19 usher hope for 2021. Come to think about it uncertainties seemed to be the only constant for our time. Nations and kingdoms rise and fall throughout history. New strands of virus threaten the survival of us now and then. What we need is something lasting, hopeful and endured the test of time – God.

Hebrews 13:7-9 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. 9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart is established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

For the followers of Jesus Christ, these words are the assurance in God. God always fulfils His promises. God sent His son Jesus to die for our sins according to His promises at the beginning of creation when men fell. Israel came back as a nation in 1948 according to His promises. If you read the Bible, you will come to know that God is a promise keeper.

Many stop following our Lord Jesus. That does not happen suddenly but progressively. Henry Blackaby highlighted three causes from the parables in Luke 15. The lost coin, the lost sheep and the lost son. What must we watch out?

  1. The lost coin – carelessness. Failure to be vigilant.
  2. The lost sheep – distractions. Failure to focus on following the Shepherd.
  3. The lost son – rebellion. Failure to love the Father but instead becoming a pleasure seeker.

In 2021, we have chosen the theme – Remain in Christ. This theme is a sequel to 2020 Rooted in Christ. Remain in Christ is based on John 15:5 – I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The cross, heart and anchor logo, was inspired by craft cut website and it is self-explaining. We have to have our heart anchored on the love of Christ and our love for Christ. Only that will make our life fruitful.
